Jennifer Annesley is a Canadian artist who draws inspiration from travel; exploring historic architecture and remote landscapes.

Through her unconventional use of watercolour and charcoal, she creates a remarkable sense of light, atmosphere and a seductive balance of elegance and power. Her focus on unusual light, shadow and texture creates exceptional drama in her architectural interiors, landscapes and still lifes.

A full time artist since graduating with her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 1989, her career spans over 25 years and 65 exhibitions. Her work is collected worldwide and continues to win international recognition and awards, including the highest watercolour award in Canada, the A.J. Casson medal.

She has been accepted by jury into numerous national exhibitions, and has been included in a wide variety of international publications; International Artist (Australia,) L’Art de L’Aquarelle, The Art of Watercolour (France) Watercolor Magazine, Artists’s Magazine, Splash 14 Light and Color and two inclusions in Strokes of Genius (U.S.) Her work is collected worldwide by public, corporate and private collectors.

Further international accolades include being selected by the CSPWC to exhibit at the National Watercolour Exhibition in Mexico city representing Canada. She is one of few Canadian artists to be recognized and featured as the cover artist with a full-length article appearing in Watercolor Magazine, published in New York, 2002.

In 2013, Jennifer was awarded “Architectural artist of the year” from Art Design Consultants in Cincinnati.

In February 2014, Jennifer’s work was selected from over 1500 entries into the World Watercolour Competition, organized by “L’Art de L’Aquarelle magazine in France.
