The Sea Ray L-Class: Style and Substance in Perfect Balance

Storied boat manufacturer Sea Ray presented a bold vision when it first introduced the L-Class. This new series of luxury yachts was designed with one driving purpose: to achieve the perfect balance of style and substance, blending finely honed boatbuilding expertise with exquisite comfort and modern elegance. The L-Class has lived up to its mission, delivering superior livability, effortless performance, and striking beauty while adhering to the fundamentals of craftsmanship and customer service on which the brand’s reputation is built.

And now, Sea Ray has unveiled two sparkling new additions to its L-Class lineup: the L550 Fly, an inviting flybridge model, and the L550, a sleek express counterpart. Both vessels exemplify the holistic approach to luxury that has defined the L-Class since its inception, in a convenient 55-foot size. Both are true standouts in the field.

Inside and out, the L550 and L550 Fly boast gorgeous modern styling, graceful lines and breathtaking performance, with a contemporary interior design that provides a tranquil environment for owners and their guests — themes that run through the L590, L590 Fly, L650 and L650 Fly.

Thoughtful features of the yachts serve to enhance boaters’ time on the water. “We took the complete boating experience into consideration,” explained Scott Ward, president and general manager of Sea Ray Sport Yachts and Yachts, speaking just prior to the L550’s debut at February’s Yachts Miami Beach show. “As a result, you’ll see thoughtful features like the spacious transom lazarette, which has room for all of the gear a yachtsman could need, and the innovative bow, which greatly expands the entertainment options and social zones of the yacht.”

On the main deck, the salon provides a sense of home, with plush seating, a technologically advanced entertainment center with a flatscreen TV and audio system, and a well-appointed galley. Oversized windows flood the salon with natural light (as does a large, retractable sunroof on all L-Class express models). Aft, a flush-threshold, stainless steel sliding door opens to a social cockpit, where amenities and options — including a refrigerator, electric grill and retractable sunshade — encourage gathering in total comfort.

Throughout the yachts, advanced technologies enhance ease of use, including vacuum-infusion structures and an advanced digital switching system and user interface. Livability is exceptional; the lower level features a luxurious full-beam master suite with resort-style head, as well as two additional staterooms and a guest head.

The L550 Fly’s namesake flybridge is equally well appointed and geared toward entertaining a group with ease. The upper helm station, like the lower helm, features state-of-the-art Raymarine® electronics. Twin 850-horsepower Caterpillar® inboards are available with joystick control for effortless docking, and an available Seakeeper® gyroscopic stabilizer adds comfort to what is already a resoundingly impressive ride.

Plus, every L-Class yacht is covered by Sea Ray’s industry-leading L-Class warranty, which includes a three-year engine/generator warranty by the manufacturer, and ongoing concierge support. In other words, peace of mind comes standard.

The buying process is world-class as well. Concierge Service includes a personalized tour of Sea Ray’s yacht manufacturing facility; interior, color and custom selections during the Design Center Experience; full hospitality during your trip to Sea Ray; and a delivery experience that includes a hands-on orientation with a Sea Ray yacht captain. That level of care doesn’t stop with purchase, either; it extends through the life of your vessel. And as members of the Sea Ray Owners Club, L-Class owners become part of a community of passionate boaters all around the globe.

By removing barriers to connection and perfecting the marriage of style and substance, each L-Class yacht provides something truly special: the experience of being fully and harmoniously in the moment.
