The 2025 Met Gala, held on May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, celebrated Black dandyism with the theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The event honored the sartorial elegance and cultural significance of Black fashion, showcasing its profound influence on global style.
Co-chaired by Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, and Anna Wintour, the gala featured a star-studded guest list including Rihanna, Zendaya, Diana Ross, and Kim Kardashian. Attendees embraced the “Tailored for You” dress code, blending sharp tailoring with avant-garde designs. Notable fashion moments included Zendaya in a white Louis Vuitton suit, Rihanna revealing her third pregnancy in a Marc Jacobs gown, and Diana Ross donning an 18-foot train gown.
The evening also featured André 3000 promoting his EP with a giant piano ensemble. The accompanying exhibition, open to the public from May 10 to October 26, explores Black dandyism through garments, photographs, and fine art, highlighting the evolution of Black identity and style.
