For the first time ever, after nearly four decades of fashion anonymity and anti-celebrity ethos, Maison Margiela has tapped a well-known face to front its campaign: Miley Cyrus.
The Autumn/Winter 2025 Avant-Première Collection is her debut as the brand’s official ambassador, marking a break from the house’s traditional secrecy.
Photographed by Paolo Roversi, the campaign is anything but ordinary. The stripped-down portraits evoke emotion more than fashion. Miley Cyrus appears in minimalist styling, often nude, with only white paint and the iconic painted Tabi boots. It’s homage to Margiela’s “bianchetto” overpaint technique from 1989, revealing layers of history rather than hiding them.
Margiela, historically hidden behind anonymous runways and faceless models, now places a dynamic pop star in plain view. This collaboration is less about selling and more about showing what happens when two strong identities collide.
