Year after year, the brilliant minds in the field of haute horlogerie continue to astonish us with their innovations in design and precision timekeeping.
This year is certainly no different. In the following pages, we’ve brought together a collection of some of the year’s most magnificent timepieces for men and women for your consideration.
JULES VERNE INSTRUMENT III
Jules Verne Instrument III is an original and decidedly technological chronograph inspired by Captain Nemo, the protagonist of Verne’s 1869 novel, Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, in which Nemo chooses voluntary exile from human society to sail the oceans aboard his Nautilus submarine.
Louis Moinet has created Jules Verne Instrument III especially for the Captain, as a high-precision instrument and loyal companion to accompany him alongside his various locomotive devices in his many confrontations with worlds known and unknown.
TOURBILLON GMT CERAMICA
This is an exclusive pocket watch which combines the technical content of contemporary haute horlogerie with echoes of the history of the Florentine brand. The Pocket Watch Tourbillon GMT Ceramica consists of a Radiomir case 59 mm in diameter in ceramic made from zirconium oxide.
Inside is the P.2005/S movement with tourbillon regulator, enhanced by the sophisticated skeleton structure which enables distinctive technical aspects of this movement to be seen.
Radiating its customary linearity and transparency, the famous Ti-Bridge by Corum introduces its first feminine model: the Ti-Bridge Lady. Held in place by four diamond-set crossbars, its horizontal baguette movement is exquisitely framed by an original white ceramic case, creating a subtle chemistry between the distinctive tonneau shape of the Bridges collection and an elegantly slender design.
A true technical revolution that stunned connoisseurs when prototypes of the innovative mechanism were first presented, the Constant Escapement is now integrated into the movements driving the new models of Girard-Perregaux’s Haute Horlogerie collection. Watchmaking history will be forever marked by this significant achievement in chronometry, paired with the superb balance and singularity of this movement.
PILOT MONTRE D’AÉRONEF TYPE 20
The new Pilot Montre d’Aéronef Type 20 GMT is a worthy successor to the first Zenith aviator’s watches. This timepiece is equipped with a high-precision EL Primero 4054 B movement, an evolution of the famous El Primero chronograph (36,000 vibrations per hour) produced in-house by the manufacture for over 40 years. This timepiece is available in a steel or two-tone titanium and rose gold version. In a nod to the Swiss civil aviation registration system, the letters HB appear on the side of the case, followed by a figure referring to the model’s series number.
The Reverso is one of the rare true icons of luxury watchmaking. It is the legendary reversible watch invented in the 1930s for polo players who wanted to be able to protect the crystals of their watches, which featured pure, geometric silhouettes inspired by the Art Deco movement. The Reverso Duo reinvents the second time zone display through the magic of the reversible watch. At its heart lies a single mechanical movement powering both dials.
Since 2012, all the timepieces in this collection beat to the rhythm of exclusive manufacture movements and testify to Hermès’ enduring passion for fine mechanisms. The latest creation in this resolutely elegant line, the Dressage Chronograph, comes in two versions: one with an opaline silvered dial and a matte Havana alligator strap, and the other with a black dial and a matte black alligator strap. Beneath its simple appearance, the dial reveals a number of subtly orchestrated details. It plays with volumes through vertical lines stamped across its center, along with raised applied hour-markers that catch and hold the light.
KANTHAROS MVT RECTO VERSO
Could it be the determination etched on its face? Or its performance-packed heart? Is it the eye-catching aesthetics? Or its fascinating fully integrated mechanism? Whatever the answer to such questions, Kantharos embodies a stunning blend of haute horlogerie expertise and high-tech precision. This mono-pusher chronograph with striking mechanism and constant force escapement asserts its own identity and reinvents the measurement of timing events.
A king among chronographs and a force of nature, Kantharos features a constant-force escapement that ensures supreme precision. The automatic-winding chronograph’s cathedral gong audibly chimes with each change of function – a concept invented and developed by Christophe Claret.
Watches produced by Patek are considered by many collectors to be recession proof. Patek offers an extensive collection of watches including the Calatrava, Twenty4, Golden Ellipse, Gondolo, Aquanaut, Nautilus and, of course, it’s complicated watches including Grand Complications that feature celestial charts, minute repeaters and perpetual calendars.
CARL F. BUCHERER
PATRAVI TRAVELTEC FOURX
In the Patravi TravelTec FourX Limited Edition model, the watchmakers at Carl F. Bucherer bring together not only different time zones but also different worlds – worlds of exquisite materials. Fine 18K rose gold, paired with extra-hard. high-tech ceramic, sets the highest standards in the time-consuming process of forming the bezel. And high-quality titanium and highly-resistant rubber also play their role in an extraordinary overall concept. Together, these four very different materials add yet another dimension to the fourth dimension of time: exclusivity.
As far as its “instrument look” is concerned, this watch has nothing to hide. For this reason, the watchmakers have given it a skeletonized dial permitting a free view of the gearing of the painstakingly decorated automatic movement. This timepiece is designed as a tribute to the great visionary, the depth of his character and the creativity of his company.
In tribute to Daniel Jeanrichard, the JEANRICHARD brand draws strength from its creative energy and promotes independence as a way of life. The 1681 collection boasts the year that Daniel Jeanrichard manufactured his first watch. It takes a fresh look at traditional watchmaking in a contemporary style while staying true to the old watchmaker’s precepts, allowing no compromise.
Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry is pleased to present its latest timepiece for men, the Gucci Dive. Available in stainless steel or pink gold, both worked in black PVD, this watch represents a new standard of high-performance timekeeping for Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry.
The automatic movement is provided by Sowind, a true Swiss Manufacture that produces its own horological movements in the best tradition of fine watchmaking. By incorporating these components, Gucci Timepieces & Jewelry is improving its expertise, creating a niche segment of premium watches within its offering. These new models are distinguished by their blend of sleek design and superior mechanics.
FABULEUX PEACOCK WATCH
Cartier is a watchmaking wizard with the gift of conjuring up extraordinary pieces. Playing on an apparition, miracles of jewelry, Cartier pictures a metamorphosis of time through watches that can play any role: now a brooch, now a pendant, now a watch – or all three at a time.
CHRONOGRAPHE GRANDE DATE
A pioneer since 1930 in the creation of women’s watches equipped with self-winding movements, Blancpain pursues this path and regularly introduces models developed for women sensitive to watchmaking complications. Loyal to tradition, the new Chronograph Grande Date associates a dainty mother-of-pearl face and a self-winding heart with several complications within a model featuring generous gem-set lines.
