Within the New York City skyline lies 130 William, one of the Big Apple’s premier luxury residential developments. Within 130 William, five distinctive luxury homes have been designed by renowned architect Sir David Adjaye in collaboration with Aston Martin. For the first time, each of these homes comes with an extraordinary benefit that blends the architect’s and automobile manufacturer’s disciplines — a 130 William Adjaye Special Edition Aston Martin DBX, a luxury SUV designed with the building’s synergy and architecture in mind.
The Collaboration
In early November 2020, architect Sir David Adjaye and Lightstone, one of the largest privately held real estate companies in the US, along with Aston Martin’s Chief Creative Officer, Marek Reichman, blended their talents to create this historic collaboration of home space and vehicle. With the 130 William building standing over 800 feet tall, the 66-story masterpiece is a concrete architectural statement immersed in a Manhattan backdrop. Adjaye took on the vast responsibility of designing both the interior and exterior elements of the five homes within the building. He also collaborated with Aston Martin to evoke the materials, textures, and atmosphere of 130 William when designing the luxury British manufacturer’s first SUV, that benefit we earlier mentioned.
The Luxury
With 242 residences and over 20,000 square feet of amenities and a new centralized park, 130 William is a modern marvel. Adjaye’s architectural inspiration for the five homes in the building draws from New York’s history of masonry architecture. Oversized arched windows, refined bronze detailing, and classic stonework highlight the building’s iconic features. The homes are a unique addition to traditional NYC scenery.
With five fully furnished homes on the 59th and 60th floors, including two penthouse homes, each is fully furnished featuring items from the Aston Martin Home Collection by Italian manufacturer Formitalia. From the master bedroom to the living room, the interior is covered with textiles and hardware that reflect the grace, movement, and style synonymous with Aston Martin’s luxurious handmade automobile interiors. For the racing enthusiast, one of the rooms can be converted into a simulation room that features realistic technology and high-end materials, seating, and style that we simply can’t get enough of. Outside, city views provide a rich and refreshing look at the bustling metropolitan below.
The Amenities
From the fitness center, spa, and yoga studio to the infinity-edge swimming pool and IMAX theater, 130 William has every lifestyle and wellness amenity you could ever want and more. You never have to leave the building. With a golf simulator, pet spa, lounge, basketball court, chef’s catering kitchen, private dining area, private rooftop terrace, and more, these indulgences form an experience and lifestyle fit for a king and queen. The kid-friendly building also has a children’s activity center.
The SUV
The DBX’s interior and custom paintwork harmonize with the building’s architecture to synchronize the unique collaboration between the two design masterminds. The entire team set out to capture the essence of both Aston Martin and Adjaye’s architecture in all aspects of the vehicle’s design. The technologically advanced SUV has real stone accents with marble inlays and Satin Walnut wood inside. Mainstays such as hand-stitched leather, and Parliament Green trim and steering wheel capture the spirit of Aston Martin. The ‘Q by Aston Martin’ customization service matches materials and colors within the 130 William homes, specifically in the simulator room.
